    Geoff joined IMS Research in May 2011 as Principal Analyst for Touch Research, where he is focused on touch, especially in CE mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Geoff is also the Owner and Principal Consultant at Walker Mobile, providing consulting services on touch technologies, active digitizers, mobile displays & enhancements, and mobile computers.

    Most recently, Geoff was the Marketing Evangelist & Touch-Industry Guru at NextWindow, a supplier of optical touchscreens used in Windows-7 touch monitors and all-in-one touch computers. Prior to NextWindow, Geoff was the Global Director of Product Management and Business Development for Elo TouchSystems, a business unit of Tyco Electronics and a $400M manufacturer of touchscreens, touch monitors and touch computers. Before joining Elo, Geoff ran his own consulting firm (Walker Mobile) full-time for seven years, during which time touch increasingly became his focus. During these years, Geoff also served as the Guest Editor for Touch of SID's Information Display magazine (2007), the Associate Editor of the Veritas et Visus series of display-industry newsletters (2005-2007), and the Technology Editor of Pen Computing magazine (2001-2007).

    In the early years of his career, before founding Walker Mobile, Geoff was a mobile-computing industry pioneer. At startup GRiD Systems, Geoff worked on the world’s first laptop (the GRiD Compass) in 1982 and the world’s first pen tablet (the touchscreen-equipped GRiDPad) in 1989. Next, Geoff served as product architect and VP of Marketing at startup Fujitsu Personal Systems, where he architected all of Fujitsu’s pen & touch tablet products from 1993-1999. Following Fujitsu, Geoff was an early employee at startup Handspring, where he worked on the Visor Prism (Handspring's first color PDA) and the VisorPhone (the predecessor of the Treo smartphone).

    Geoff is a well-known author in the touch industry, with 60+ published articles and 20+ conference presentations; in addition, he has continued to serve as Guest Editor for Touch on multiple issues of SID’s Information Display magazine. Geoff is an active member of SID, currently serving as the Chairman of the San Francisco Bay-Area SID Chapter, as well as being a member of IEEE and ACM. Geoff holds BS-Electrical Engineering and BS-English degrees from the Polytechnic Institute of New York University and has completed all the coursework for an MBA in Marketing

  • Jane Hsu

    Director, Taiwan Market Research

    Jane Hsu is Director of Taiwan Market Research at IMS Research where she is focused on the display and FPD markets. Jane was most recently an independent consultant in the display area, working directly for customers as well as other market research firms while completing her PhD coursework in Technology Management at National Tsing Hua University. Prior to these activities, she was Taiwan Research Director at DisplaySearch, an NPD Company, for two years where she provided valuable analysis and insight on many aspects of the flat panel display market. She also worked as a display analyst at buy-side firms ABN AMRO and Fuh-hwa Investment Trust for a period of 3 years. Prior to becoming a financial analyst, she was a senior industry analyst at MIC, a leading Taiwan government-backed market research and consulting institute, focused on producing syndicated and custom reports for government and private sector clients. Jane has an MBA in International Business from Tamkang University and is working on her PhD thesis.

  • Dkins Cho

    Senior Analyst, FPDs and Displays

    Dkins (Dae Kweon) Cho joined IMS Research in October of 2010 as Senior Analyst, FPDs and Displays. He was previously Director of FPD Sales at Dominant Semiconductors Korea, responsible for all domestic accounts in South Korea covering general lighting and other consumer applications. He also held sales, marketing and engineering positions at semiconductor distributors and at LG International and LG Semicon. He has a materials engineering degree from Korea Aviation University.
